Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser Primer Review

Monday 23 May 2016

Now this blog originally started off completely beauty themed and that was my plan for it, however over the years I've dabbled in everything and have mostly drifted towards lifestyle since I find for me it's more my thing, however I really don't want the beauty aspect of this place to disappear. I've been super into stepping out of my comfort zone lately and buying different products that I've never tried, and I really want to get more into the swing of doing product reviews since I have so many planned yet I never actually do them! For the past few months I've been obsessed with Benefits Porefessional, however as you may or may not know it's kinda extremely pricey and I couldn't afford to keep using it on a daily basis which is why I was on the hunt for something new (and slightly cheaper). Enter Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser Primer!

Now I didn't buy this for any specific reason, I was just in Boots looking for a primer that I could try, I had no clue what I was looking for and I hadn't heard of any of the ones I saw, but the packaging of this was so pleasing to my eye that I kinda just had to pick it up! Plus it was only £7.99 so it was way too hard to just turn down. The product description claims:

"Maybelline Baby Skin provides a matte finish and leaves the skin fresh, soft and protected. The gel texture in Baby Skin instantly helps to vanish pores and makes the skin feel light. It avoids a shine on the skin and makes the skin feel soft. Bye bye pores!!"

Now I happen to think it fits all of the criteria, the formula itself is incredibly soft and feels gorgeous on my skin. I don't think it's as good as the Porefessional at getting rid of my pores but for more than half the price it sure isn't bad. It did an amazing job at giving my skin a matte finish, I struggle big time with oily skin to the point of it being a nightmare so that factor was an absolute godsend.

Although I do really like this product I still like to add at least something slightly negative to reviews just to even up the playing field a little bit, so with this primer I'd have to say it isn't the best at keeping my makeup on throughout the day. This is a rather big problem for me, so although for the price of it I'd definitely recommend it I will however still be searching for a new one, but I'd give this one a solid 3 and a half out of 5, which for me is a pretty decent rating considering i'm so picky! I personally won't be reaching for it again any time soon but if I ever have a primer emergency and run out I like this enough to use it as my backup. Have any of you used this primer and if so do you like it? Also leave some good primer recommendations for all day lasting makeup down below because I'm getting rather desperate!

  1. I've never tried this primer before but I suffer from quite large pores so this one sounds appropriate for me! At the moment I'm using the Benefit POREfessional primer x

    1. if you can afford the Benefit one then I'd recommend that 100 times over, but if you're looking for something cheap this may be alright x

  3. I have dry skin so this may not be the best for me, but I have heard it's a good dupe for the Porefessional! Like you said it probably doesn't quite live up to Benefit's but it seems like a good alternative for some x

    1. I think this one's better for dry skin than the benefit one, if I'm having a really bad dry skin day I'll probably lean to this one more :) x

  5. I've tried this before and it DEFINITELY leaves your skin feeling amazing... I agree though, doesn't seem to make your makeup last much longer!

  6. I've been wanting to try this but i wasn't sure it would do a good job. A lot of brands come out with 'pore minimizing' primers that don't really do anything. I personally love the Loreal Paris magic blur and the Loreal paris skin perfection pore blurers, but they are a bit pricey so mabey i'll try this maybelline one.
