Beauty Christmas wishlist!

Sunday, 1 December 2013

Christmas is coming up extremely soon and I'm so excited, it's come round so fast! Anyway, I thought I'd share with you some of the things that are on my Christmas wishlist this year, enjoy!

Mac lipstick in Ruby Woo- Now this is definitely on the top of my Christmas list, I've wanted a Mac lipstick for a while but due to the perks of being poor, I can't actually afford one! This colour's a lovely matte red and I've heard so much lovely stuff about it that I've been lusting for this shade for a while!

Nars sheer glow foundation- I've only ever really owned drugstore foundations apart from one Mac one, I've never really wanted to spend out on one, as there's so many decent drugstore ones, but I've heard so many people rave about this that it's something I just need to try.

Urban Decay Naked palette- I think pretty much every beauty lover owns this, I know the third one's out now, but I currently don't own any! So many people talk about this and how lovely it is, and it's used in so many makeup tutorials and blog posts and etc that I don't think I can live without it much longer. The colours look absolutely beautiful and I can't wait till I finally get one of these!

Sorry this is such a short post, I have a lookbook coming soon to show you, it's not the best but it was my first attempt so you can at least give me points for trying, right?

See you soon, love Amy

Tonight is the night

Wednesday, 20 November 2013

Now tonight (technically tomorrow if you want to be like that) at 00:31 am I'm going to go see The Hunger Games: Catching Fire as it's first released. "Thats a bit late at night Amy" you may ask, well, it is a bit late. But I dont think I can physically explain my love for this film.

You know those obsessed fangirls that read the books like 50 billion times? That can quote the whole film and half the books off by heart if you wanted them too? That sat freaking out as she waited desperately for them announce who was cast as who in the next film? Yeah well that's me. I'm pretty bad. So it was slightly obvious that I'd be seeing the first showing of this film that I physically could. I'm both nervous and excited for this film. Nervous because I'm dreading some of the scenes from the book, worried that they might let me down in some ways, and excited because I've waited so long for this film. I remember when there was like 400 odd sleeps until this and now theres none. NONE. I feel sorry for my Nan, who I'm going to see it with, as I'll be in the seat next to her dying as I see them recreate some of my favourite scenes from the book, and also some of the deaths. (SPOILERS. *cough* I don't think I'll be able to cope when Cinna dies, if they even put that in. *cough* SPOILERS)

The first film obviously wasn't as good as the book, but they never are. However they did an exceptional job at turning it into a film, and I'm only hoping this one is the same. Are any of you going to see this film, do you have any predictions or hopes for it?

Excuses, Excuses

Wednesday, 13 November 2013

My blog is a complete mess. It's been countless days since my last post and I do way too many "I'm sorry I haven't posted in a while" posts. The reason being this time because my Nans computer is broke. My fault obviously, I broke it. She can't afford a new one, I can't afford my own, so the problem forms. I am extremely sorry I haven't been posting, but I'm determined to start up again.

I've been feeling really motivated and inspired recently, so I'm determined to at least post once a week. I'll post everything from beauty reviews to film reviews, recipes to wishlists and OOTDs to just general posts.

Now instead of having this post as another "I'm sorry" post (but seriously, I really am!), I thought I'd talk about excuses. I'm full of them, I have an excuse for everything. Half of them aren't even true and don't actually make any sense, and I know a lot of other teenagers are exactly the same. When it comes to excuses we, being the weird generation we are, don't like to take the blame or responsibility for anything that happens, and in some cases excuses are good. They work, it's fine using them and it doesn't really matter, but in some situations it really would be best to just come clean rather than making up an excuse.

The excuse "my dog ate my homework" is a classic. But what if one day your dog really does eat your homework? If you're full of lies and always use excuses like that, then one day no one will believe you when you're telling the truth. As I'm typing this I can hear my Mum having a go at my dog for chewing up her gym plans and etc, as my dog eats literally anything, so it's not exactly an impossible excuse. It's kinda like the boy who cried wolf. Use excuses but only if they're genuine and needed.

Update!

Wednesday, 18 September 2013

So, a lot's happened since we last spoke. I have a series every Friday/Saturday about happiness, depression, self harm, anxiety and etc, I got accepted into college and last week was my first proper week. I'm studying Creative Media Level 2 at a college which is sadly about an hours travel to and from every day. The last lifestyle post I did was Emma Blackerys gig, which you can find HERE, which I went to with 2 friends Lizzie and Sharisha.

On Saturday (14th), the same Lizzie invited me to a little birthday thing she had in London. I sadly didn't get many pictures from the day but.

Me and Rachel

Shauna in McDonalds

Me and Shauna

Me and Connie

The day started off with everyone meeting at Waterloo, the group started off huge. We then spent most of the day in Camden town, where we lost people, some came back, some disappeared, it was all a bit confusing. As it started to get about 5ish a few of us headed to Jubilee Gardens and chilled there for a bit.

Instead of taking pictures from the day I filmed clips and put them together, the video of which is here.

Being Happy 2!

Saturday, 7 September 2013

So last week I wrote THIS post about a new series I'm starting, which still doesn't have a name! The first post in this series was called being happy, and this one kind of follows on that.

One thing I've found, is that when I know I've made other people smile, or done something to brighten up someone's day, it makes me feel happy and a lot better about myself. No it doesn't cause eternal happiness and make you feel better for weeks, but it does make you feel like a good person, and that you've helped someone out. The small things help just as much as the big things.

If you're feeling down, try any of these things:
-Help someone across the street
-Send a friend or someone a random text, or tweet, or facebook message saying something nice. For example "I love your hair",  "You have a really nice smile", "Hope you're having a good day". Anything that you know could bring a little smile to their face, it's always nice to know someone's thinking about you.
-Compliment someone in the street
-Put post it notes up around your area, someones bound to see one, pick it up, and maybe even smile if there's a nice comment on there!
-Sometimes I like to search for people on twitter or tumblr who are feeling down, or suicidal, and be there for them. You never know, you may even save a life.

As I will say again, this won't make you happy for a long period of time, but If it helps you get through just one day and stops you from doing anything silly then it's really worth a try! If you're interested in seeing more from this series, I'll be putting a post up every Saturday about helping people through things like depression, anxiety, suicide and self harm, because as mentioned in my last post, I know it's a touchy subject, but I know how you feel. If this helps even one random person who's stumbled across my blog then it's completely worth it.

Secret Gig!

Thursday, 5 September 2013

On Saturday I saw one of my favourite youtubers Emma Blackery tweeting that she would be doing a secret gig on Monday for a video she'll be uploading soon, and that you had to email in and a selected few would get a ticket. if you got in you'd get an email back with where and when the gig was and etc. I, luckily, managed to get a ticket and, well, ended up going!

I went to Jubilee Gardens with my friend Cerys before the gig.

Emmas name on the board

With Lizzie and Sharisha

Me and Emma

I got my friend Ewalyn a signature and a voicemail from Emma

Now I didn't actually expect to meet Emma, let alone talk to her for as long as we did, which was about 15 minutes. We spoke about the gig and how her name was up on the board, how far we'd come to be there and my obsession with Monster and how to get over it. We had 2 group hugs and one individual one, so 3 sets of hugs occurred in that amount of time, not complaining because I love hugs! She's such a lovely and naturally funny person. She doesn't try to be funny, she just naturally is. She's also an amazing performer in both her humour and her amazing voice. I'm seeing her again on 21st September and I cannot wait. This is the second time I've met her but only the first time I've seen her perform, so I'm really looking forward to it!

I have a college induction tomorrow and I'm mega nervous. It's not my closest college so I'll barely know anyone, and the idea of turning up on my own is pretty scary, but I'll update you on how that goes soon!

Being Happy!

Saturday, 31 August 2013

Now, I only tend to look on the negative aspects of life, I don't mean too, it's just I can't seem to think of the good things, just the bad. This really isn't the best outlook to have on life to be honest. Some people use their depression as an excuse, and I get that it is, but if you don't try to be positive then you're not going to get anywhere. I want to start a series of posts to put up every Saturday about helping people through things like depression, anxiety, suicide and self harm, because even though it's a very touchy subject, I know how you feel. I think it could maybe help some people, even if it is just one random person who's randomly come across my blog.

Today's post is on "being happy". Now this post isn't me telling you how to be happy, because that's impossible, but while I was awake at 2am this morning feeling pretty damn low, I decided to make a list of 20 things that make me smile and I thought I'd share! If you ever feel down and your struggling to sleep, try it! It really does help, it kind of helps you focus on what will make you feel better, and hopefully you can find it easier to push those bad thoughts out of your head and get to sleep.

(Trust me to do a little sidenote in the corner just clearing up
the mistakes, such a grammar freak!)

1.  Late night skype calls
2. Deep heart to heart conversations
3. Hugs
4. Milky coffee and hot chocolate
5. Watching movies in bed on a down day
6. Going to live gigs and shows
7. Long comforting hugs!
8. Reaction picture conversations or banter
9. Taking lots of pictures with people (I like to keep photos to help create and remember memories)
10. Travelling
11. Instantly clicking with someone
12. Watching sunsets
13. The feeling of fresh bedding
14. Reading a new book- I'm one of those people that when they read a book, the whole word comes alive in their head and it's one of the best feelings! Oh, and the smell of a new book.
15. People playing with my hair- Now this is one of my all time favourite things ever
16. Going on little mini adventures
17. Being with someone, I love being on my own, but I feel so much safer when I'm with another person.
18. Going to the cinema
19. Cute relationships, the kind of thing ever girl on tumblr says they want but they know they're never ever going to get.
20. More hugs!

You may (or may not) notice that theres a few small differences between the list in the picture and the list here, and that's because I made a few mistakes at 2am! Writing this list help me put my mind to ease a little, even though I don't do half of what's here, I will at some point and when I do I know that it's going to make me smile. Writing a list may sound boring to you, but I find it helps. I know when you have depression, and even if you're just feeling sad and don't, it's hard to look at life positively, it's a huge struggle, but it won't get better if you don't try and help yourself. Has anyone else tried this, or have any other ways to ease their mind a little when in a bit of a state? Tweet me or comment down below if you would like to share!

Never growing up

Friday, 30 August 2013

Now I'm 18 in a few months, and the idea of hitting that age and being made to grow up terrifies me. I don't want to be one of those people that does grow up and turns into a bore, people always complain that teenagers are 'immature' and that they should 'grow up', but that sounds like one of the worst things you could ever do!

I don't know if it's just me, but I'd love to be able to stay a child forever. Sadly that isn't the case and I will have to grow up in the sense of getting a job, living on my own, paying bills and etc, but absolutely NO ONE can force you and your personality to grow up.

So me, still being a child, decided to make a lovely little blanket fort, and to my surprise it didn't go too badly!

I don't even understand how it's still up!

 It's really nice and cosy!

View from my bed!

All I need is a friend and some food and I am never leaving this again. It's so lovely and cosy and pretty when I tun my fairy lights on. It's the kind of place you just want to have movie marathons at night with your friends and things, or am I maybe just soppy?

Also, this week I've been to the cinema twice in 2 days, I'm meant to be saving up. On Thursday to see One Directions "This Is Us", which has made me realize I'm a secret fan, oops! And today to see the new Percy Jackson film which was A-MAZING. The Percy Jackson films are some of my favourites and I think I'm in love with Logan Lerman, anyone else?!

Blogging!

Saturday, 24 August 2013

Now if you read the lovely lady Louise known as Sprinkle of Glitter, then you'll have seen her most recent post about her blog and trying to stick with particular labels and things, which has really made me think.

I label this is a lifestyle and beauty blog, and I kind of limit myself to just writing about those two, which to be honest I don't want to do! When people ask me what my blog style is I used to think that I HAVE to have an answer, that it has to have a particular style, but it doesn't.
I've realized that if I want to post about anything I will. I don't want to label my blog as only doing particular posts as it really limits myself. If I want to post about beauty I will, and the same with fashion, lifestyle, DIY and etc.

So next time someone asks me what kind of blog I own, I'm taking Louise's advice and saying that my blogs me. I post about what I feel like posting about at the time, and I'm so thankful to Louise for making me realize this.

You'll be seeing a lot from me from now on. I'm going to try and blog at least 3 times a week, whether it's planned reviews on beauty products, books, films, music, hair, lifestyle posts on things I've been up too, or just unplanned rambly posts that I just felt like writing randomly, there will be something.

I hope to see you all back soon with whatever my mind feels like coming up with!

Inspiration

Thursday, 22 August 2013

I often find myself staring at a blank page in my notebook, thinking, wondering, hoping that I can write something beautiful. Most of the time nothing comes to me, and why? The most wonderous pieces of writing often have inspiration. The writer, somewhere, sees or does something that inspires them to write it. Don't think that it 'just comes to them' and get frustrated because the same isn't happening to you, because that isn't the case. The smallest things can inspire you if you really look hard enough. Whether it's the wind rustling through some trees, the sight of the world passing you by, or maybe just something you walk past in the street, inspiration can be found anywhere. It could come from a big motivated talk, a TV programme, a film, or even something you've seen online. Sometimes people have that one thing that inspires them all the time. A friend, a family member, a boyfriend or a girlfriend  You just need to find your inspiration and never give up until you find it. Inspiration is everywhere and if you're patient you'll find yours.

Summer In The City

Wednesday, 21 August 2013

Those of you who follow me on twitter will know that on Friday I went to London ready for quite a busy weekend. I went to a gathering in Jubilee Gardens on that day, which was pretty cool, but the main event happened on the Saturday and Sunday!

Now I'm pretty sure most of you have heard of Summer In The City right? It's the hugest youtube gathering outside the US held in London in the UK once a year, this year being my first year of attending. The event itself was on the 17th and 18th of August in Alexandra Palace, which was an AMAZING venue. I went to London early on the Friday and stayed at a friends until late on the Monday, and it was honestly one of the best weekends of my life. I got to see all of my friends, and seeing ones I haven't seen in months made me so happy. Being in a building with like 7,000 odd other people who all love the same thing as you and who have all come together to celebrate youtube felt so unreal. Whether their main intentions were to meet their favourite youtubers or to see old/new friends it was an amazing experience. Youtube is such a wonderful community and to be quite honest, words can't even describe how good that weekend was.

People had come from countries all over the world just to go to Summer In The City, the passion most people there have for Youtube is unreal. My main intention was to just have fun, and to actually socialize (for once) with people who are pretty much the same as me. The fact that I got to meet some of my favourite youtubers was just a plus.

FRIDAY

(Jack Spriggs, he has an AMAZING voice)

(Ollie Martin, one of my favourite youtubers)

(Oohh it's Gary C)

(Brad Corey, one of my favourite youtubers)

(Sam Watson, his videos are fab)

(Patty Walters, think I'm in love with him)

Wristband

SUNDAY
(The one and only Charlie McDonnell)

(Niki and Sammy, they're hilarious)

(Dean Dobbs, half of Jack&Dean)

(One of my favourite people ever, Jason)

You can tell that the majority of Saturdays photos were taken on my terrible phone front camera, it's a shame I didn't get them on my actual camera, they'd have been a lot nicer!

I've linked youtube channels to the people in each picture, so be sure to check them out, and also be sure to check out my youtube channel which you can find HERE as I'll be uploading vlogs from the weekend and a video on my personal experience at Summer In The City 2013.
